Sophie joined Hunter McCorquodale in 2011 and is responsible for all facets of leadership of Hunter McCorquodale including strategic and financial management, distribution and marketing strategy, product development and management, underwriting quality, administration and customer service.
Sophie began her career in individual Life and Disability sales and currently has more than 25 years of experience in the Special Risk field. She holds an Honours B.A in Commerce and Economics from the University of Toronto, a certificate in Strategic Marketing Management from the Schulich School at York University and the CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) designation.
As the Sales & Marketing Associate Brooke handles all sales calls, emails, and requests from advisors for our insurance products. Educating advisors on our product information and services, Brooke works very closely with the underwriters to develop solutions for all prospective clients. She has developed close working relationships with our Advisors, MGA and and National Accounts guiding them to find the best products to suit their client needs. All marketing initiatives, and marketing strategies are sent by Brooke.
Brooke joined Hunter McCorquodale in 2008 after working for a major insurance company for over 5 years in the life & living benefits sales office. She worked in various sales roles as an Individual Sales Support Rep, a Group Sales Support Rep and then as a Group/Individual and Life Sr. Sales Support Rep for the PPI unit. During this time she worked very closely with sales reps on many large Guaranteed Standard Issue cases.
Brooke attended Dalhousie University where she obtained her Advanced Double Major Degree in Sociology and History. Following her graduation, Brooke attended the International Academy of Design & Technology, receiving her Diploma in Marketing & Merchandising.
Ella Popescu
Manager, Administration and Compliance
Ella joined Hunter McCorquodale in September 2014 bringing with her over 17 combined years of experience specializing in the high net worth insurance market. Previously, she held various roles with a major bank. As Supervisor of Administration and Compliance, Ella oversees new business processing, coordinating medical and financial underwriting requirements, handling broker inquiries during and after the application process, policy and advisor services, and advisor contracting. Ella holds an Honors B.A. in Economics and is working towards her ACS accreditation.
Kim joined Hunter McCorquodale in March of 2017. Graduating from CDI College in 2012 with a diploma in Office Management and Administration, Kim has been actively involved in administrative work across a variety of sectors. Most recently, she served as the HR Administrator for a large insurance broker.
Kim is responsible for providing administrative and clerical services to advisors.
Jennifer is a Client Service Associate responsible for managing insurance application from start to finish. This includes new business processing, policy issuance, and on-going inforce policy service.
Jennifer joined Hunter McCorquodale in October 2018. She has worked in the insurance industry for several years, spending most of her time at a major insurance company in the role of Case Coordinator.
Heather is a client service associate who has joined Hunter McCorquodale in September 2019. Her main role and responsibilities are to provide exceptional customer service while working on an insurance applications start to finish. This includes; the processing of new business, policy issuance and any ongoing inforce policy responsibilities.
She has worked previously in the insurance industry for several years at a major insurance company, primarily as a New Business Administrator.
Jocelyn Yorke
Manager, Underwriting and Claims Services
Jocelyn joined Hunter McCorquodale as Underwriting Analyst in September, 2015. She brings over 17 years of insurance experience. Prior to starting at Hunter McCorquodale, Jocelyn worked as Individual Disability Claims Adjudicator at Manulife Financial for 15 years.
Jocelyn’s main role at Hunter McCorquodale is underwriting of new business applications. She also provides support in new business processing and handling broker inquiries during and after the application process.
Jocelyn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance.
Our newest Client Service Associate, Maricar is responsible for new business processing, policy issuance and in force policy service for her assigned cases.
Maricar joined Hunter McCorquodale in April 2018. She has several years experience in the insurance and banking sectors, most recently as an Underwriting Contact Centre Representative with Desjardins Financial Security.
Ken co-founded Hunter McCorquodale with colleague Steven McCorquodale in 1997.
Ken currently supports Sophie and the Hunter McCorquodale team in the management of key market and producer relationships, custom design of solutions for large/complex cases and multi-life Guaranteed Issue programs.
Prior to establishing Hunter McCorquodale, Ken spent 3 years as an independent advisor specializing in the sale of individual disability insurance, and before that held management and executive positions with several Canadian insurance companies.
Ken holds the FSA (Fellow, Society of Actuaries) designation and has more than 40 years experience in the fields of life and disability insurance.
